Infographic: Spike in Crashes During 100 Days of Summer

Drivers ages 16 to 17 are three times as likely as adults to be involved in a deadly crash, according to new research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. This alarming statistic comes during the “100 Deadliest Days,” the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when the average number of deadly crashes involving teen drivers climbs 15 percent compared to the rest of the year.

“Parents are the front line of defense for keeping our roads safer this summer,” the AAA Director of State Relations said in a press release about the new statistics. “It all starts with educating teens about safety on the road and modeling good behavior, like staying off the phone and buckling your safety belt.”

Being your kids’ model for safe driving means sharing the road and driving distraction-free every time you’re behind the wheel. To hold one another responsible for good driver behavior, consider signing a Safe Driving Agreement with the drivers in your household. We wish you safe travels this summer and always!
