Congratulations to Jane Conroy and the entire plaintiffs’ team who secured a $247 million verdict in the bellwether trial over Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopaedics Pinnacle metal-on-metal hip implants. Yesterday’s win is the third consecutive nine-figure verdict in the multidistrict litigation.
The war room in this case was 90 percent female and included the following outstanding female trial attorneys:
The unanimous Texas federal jury found J&J liable for manufacturing defects associated with its DePuy Pinnacle hip, as well as for fraud and deceptive business practices. The $247 million includes $90 million in rarely awarded punitive damages for the companies’ particularly wanton, reckless and/or malicious conduct.
This plaintiffs’ win is another example of how our civil justice system continues to prevail against huge corporations who allow people to get hurt for the sake of a profit.
