Women En Mass (WEM) “… brings together the best and brightest female mass tort attorneys to discuss issues that affect women—from the boardroom to the courtroom.” In addition to providing an opportunity for these lawyers to bond with their peers as well as create and strengthen relationships, WEM has become so much more.

gender diversity in law

The group cheers its members on as they make history by taking on huge roles in multidistrict litigation (MDL), legal associations and elsewhere. “The world may have changed a great deal for women in America over the last 100 years,” WEM’s website says, “but there’s still work to be done.” The “WEMbers” may be mostly attorneys, but the group’s efforts promote positive impact on the lives of all women.

Last month, WEMber Lori Andrus shared the news that according to an order in the MDL titled In Re: Abilify (Aripiprazole) Products Liability Litigation, Chief Judge M. Casey Rodgers has appointed several WEMbers to prestigious positions.

Lexi Hazam of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP has been appointed to serve on the six-member Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee.

Jennifer Liakos of Napoli Shkolnik and Marlene Goldenberg of Goldenberg Law will serve on the six-member Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC).

Marlene Goldenberg has been appointed to serve as the PSC Discovery Liaison.

Lexi Hazam and Jennifer Liakos were also appointed to head the Science and Experts Subcommittee.

Tara Sutton of Robins Kaplan will serve on the Joint Settlement Committee.

Congratulations to these WEMbers who have been appointed to these prestigious positions. Your hard work and achievements are an inspiration to all of us.
