March is Women’s History Month. All month long, we will be interviewing each of the talented, intelligent, and hardworking women of Milestone Consulting.
Today, we’re featuring Rayah Latiff. Here’s what she had to say.
1. What is your title/position at Milestone? How long have you been there?
I am from Tanzania, that is in Africa. I am currently a trainee at Milestone. I touch areas including administration, finance and assist in whatever everyone is working on in the company. This is my 3rd month at Milestone.
2. Tell us something particularly unique about your background.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Arts and Business Studies from Learnit Institute of Business and Technology (Tanzania). It takes 6 or more years to fully complete your undergraduate in my country but what’s unique about my education is it took me only 3 years to get my undergraduate. I did the NCC education that is a UK based curriculum that offers 1 year in Diploma, 1 year in Advanced Diploma and 1 year top up Degree.
I come from a family of 5 siblings, 3 from my mum and 2 from my dad and regardless of us being half sisters and brothers we share a bond that is unexplainably strong.
I consider my life a very blessed one. I’ve always had a dream of possibly visiting the US one day but that dream was yet to be fulfilled. I met John Bair through my dad in Tanzania sometime around March last year in a course of their work together. After 2 days of working together he offered me this opportunity and the rest is history because I’m here. I’m learning a lot here & the exposure is just so overwhelming. The lessons learnt will impact a lot of changes when I get back home.
3. What are some of the best ways you have seen businesses elevate hardworking women in the professional world?
I’ve seen business elevate hardworking women by placing them in positions that gives them full authority to execute decisions on their own, giving them exposure and presenting them with networking opportunities, bringing to light their accomplishments & celebrating each milestone achieved whenever its due and supporting them and lending a helping hand when necessary.
